About the Book
Human Resources are the
only strategic resources of an Industry. Every organisation is composed of
people and utilizing their services, developing their skills motivating them to
enhance their performance ensuring that they remain committed to the organisation.This
goes a long way in building capabilities and enhancing organisational
effectiveness to counter the threats of extinction as a result titanic market
competition.
My intention behind
authoring this book is to give a documented form to my observations and
experience as far as the theory and practice of management is concerned.
This book has been
planned in twenty seven chapters covering all salient areas of Management -
from planning. organizing, directing, controlling, coordinating, delegation, SMP,
International Management, CSR, Performance Management, Decision Making, Stress
Management, Management Development and succession planning, Entrepreneurial
Management and compensation management. There were requests from many corners
to highlight chapters like Global Perspective of Management and the burning
issues of Talent Management. Both the Chapters have been added in this
book.
I will be extremely
grateful to the readers if they suggest relevant points for its further
improvement.
About the Author
Mr. S.B. Sharan
obtained a Masters Degree in Political Science in 1964. He, thereafter,
completed a Post Graduate Degree in Labour and Social Welfare from Kolkata
University. Finally, he achieved an Advance Honours Degree in Management from
UK. He has 32 years of experience in HRD in Steel Authority of India Limited
where he was an active member of Strategic Core Group of SAIL. He has also
worked as Head of HRM and Chief Factory Manager of Birla Cement after his
retirement from SAIL. He also worked as Director of a B - School under Ranchi
University for 6 - years. He also authored six books on subjects like Readings
in Strategic Management, Readings in Behavioural Dynamics, Human Resource
Management, Industrial Legislation and Labour Laws, Organisational Development
and Intervention Strategies and The Theory and Practice of Management.
He has coordinated and
conducted Change Assignments in UK, Germany, Austria, UAE and various
industries in India.
He started his own startup company- UDIT HR CONSULTANTS with HO in Mumbai and Regional Office in Jamshedpur.
